Inspiration
My work draws inspiration from nature’s ability to adapt, recover and find beauty even in the most difficult circumstances. Chernobyl sparked my curiosity about nature’s resilience and its ability to restore life, while my recent work, “لازم” (“Must”), explores the meaning of determination we can learn from nature and animals. From the stubbornness of a camel, for example, we can draw the strength to keep pursuing what we love, despite the judgement and criticism we may face. The roots of my inspiration also reach back to my home country, Ukraine, where I draw on the flowers and landscapes of Ukrainian villages and farms, blending them with colours inspired by the UAE flag as an expression of the connection I share with both homes.
